Overview

The New Jersey Constitution, Courts and Governance Teacher Institute provides teachers in grades 4 through 12 with a comprehensive understanding of the history and functioning of the New Jersey Constitution, the judicial system and state government. It focuses on specific topics of current interest including the death penalty, search and seizure, Mt. Laurel, education, free speech and religion. It integrates civics, law-related education and history. This program has obtained renewed funding from the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. The program has been offered in the summer of 1998, 2001 and 2005. Lessons and in-service workshops focused on New Jersey courts and government are available for interested school districts.
