The following are links to resources and materials that educators and organizations are willing to share to promote student civic literacy.

2022 Midterm Elections

PBS Election Central:The Election Collection | PBS LearningMedia provides educational resources regarding the importance of the midterm elections, elections and campaigns, the party system, voting rights and procedures, media literacy, and issue and debate toolkits.

iCivics: iCivics offers resources regarding the midterm elections. Most lessons are for grades 9-12, although one is for middle school.

Nation Council for the Social Studies: The National Council for the Social Studies offers How Do We Ensure That Elections Are Free and Fair? An Inquiry-Based Mini Unit

C-Span Classroom: Teachers looking for video clips and some lesson plans can check out C-Span Classroom. Some of the lessons concerning midterm elections reference 2014 and 2018, with data from those years.

New Jersey Congressional Redistricting Commission: Teachers interested in investigating the changes to congressional districts as a result of the 2020 census can look at the maps and data from the New Jersey Congressional Redistricting Commission. More advanced classes can access some data in .xls format.

Center for Civic Education: The national Center for Civic Education offers the following lessons and resources for Teaching the Midterms. Many of the lessons are organized by time (If you 5 minutes, if you have 10 minutes, if you have a class period) and include podcasts and quizzes. There are also lessons for elementary, middle school, and high school and some that are designed for schools using We the People or Project Citizen.

New Jersey Policy Perspective: Teachers investigating the effects of redistricting with their class may be interested in the following editorial from New Jersey Policy Perspective.

New Jersey Spotlight News provides articles and analysis of the various races at NJ Decides 2022.
