This event runs from October 20 to November 2.
The New Jersey Center for Civic Education offers teachers of grades 4-12 the opportunity to engage their students in the annual NJ Student Mock Election.
- Student privacy is carefully protected, with students casting ballots using anonymous, randomly-generated codes
- Teacher resource materials regarding candidates and issues are provided on the website to facilitate informed classroom discussions
- Voting can be done digitally or with paper ballots
- Voting dates: Two weeks before the actual election (October 20th - November 2nd)
- The results are tabulated by congressional (federal elections) or legislative (state elections) districts and grade band, not by individual school district
- The results can be the basis for a post-election lesson
This free, nonpartisan program is designed to help your students practice the habit of being informed voters in every election.
